Fabrikken's Tangent Fund

Fabrikken's Tangent Fund is awarded to a local keyboard (tangent) talent between the ages of 13-19, every other year. The Fabrikken's Tangent Fund has established a skilled jury that evaluates which talent receives the cash prize to support their further career in the music world.

A little history

In 2022, Fabrikken released what is likely the world's first grand piano biography. The initiative for the project came from piano tuner Johnny Libakken, who has unraveled the 100-year history of the unique Blüthner 97869 grand piano. The piano had much to tell from its journey through a hundred years in Lillehammer, and it became a beautiful book.

The Grand Piano Biography of Blüthner 97869 was launched with a grand celebration in Maihaugsalen on September 4, 2022, on its 100th anniversary as a Lillehammer resident. Here, the piano's history was told through people and music. The performance featured students from Lillehammer Culture School and Create High School, actors from Lillehammer Amateur Theater, and several musicians connected to the piano's history, including pianist Ketil Bjørnstad.

Blüthner 97869 was then formally handed over to Lillehammer municipality and now delights new generations of performers where it currently stands at Create High School.
