Fabrikken is located in the former industrial area at Busmoen, in premises that housed 'Steen og Strøm' furniture factory until 1971, with approximately 100 workers and the production of designer furniture.

The building and its history were perfectly suited for the new business center for creative enterprises that was established here with 20 tenants in 2005. With the help of 15 shareholders, support from the public sector, and a lot of enthusiasm and determination from the tenants and the general manager, the first construction phase was realized. Since then, several more construction phases have been completed, many new shareholders have joined, and well over a hundred businesses have been housed at Fabrikken over 20 years.

The factory today houses about 30 businesses and approximately 60 people have their daily work here. Fabrikken has many friends and partners, 90 shareholders (companies, the municipality, and private individuals) and 1200 sqm of premises.

Today we are a diversity of businesses engaged in design, events, marketing, art, crafts, music – to name a few. We are an economic player in the region, we are an open house for the public, and we are a center for knowledge about cultural industries and running small businesses.
